A great shame – Southgate reveals Arsenal star has snubbed playing for England

England manager, Gareth Southgate, has revealed that Arsenal defender Ben White has decided not to play in their latest matches.
This all but rules White out of the European Championships in the summer.
According to Southgate, the player relayed his snub through the Gunners’ technical director Edu in a phone call last week.

The latest Three Lions squad was unveiled today.
Speaking at Wembley on Thursday, Southgate said: “We had a call from Edu last week to say that Ben didn’t want to be considered for England squads at this time. It’s a great shame.”
Southgate, however, insisted he did not want to close the door on bringing White back into the fold in the future.
